Privacy Statement
Scope
This privacy statement applies to the Physicsygoodness Student Input Site located at www.shelterclassroom.com (the “Website”), and owned by Sheltermouse Solutions LLC (the “Owner”). The Owner may amend this privacy statement at any time by posting the amended statement on the Website.
The Website is made available at no charge exclusively to Abington Senior High School science teachers and their students for use in instruction and assessment.
Information Stored in the Website Database, Its Origin and Use
The Owner registers teachers and authorizes teacher access to the Website’s services and tools (the “Website Resources”) by entering the email address of the teacher into the Website database. Teachers choose a password to protect their registration. The teacher’s name is also stored.
Teachers can enter math-based problems and questions requiring a verbal response. Teachers can define classes and add students to classes singly or in bulk. For each student, the Website stores the student’s name, an identifying ID number, a system password which the student is prompted to replace with a user-defined password, the grade level of the student, and a (optionally) a nickname entered by the teacher.
Teachers can use class rosters stored in the Website database to pick students at random and to assign lab groups at random. Teachers can task classes to respond to the teacher’s own problems and questions, or to respond to problems and questions entered by other teachers.
Students can record responses to problems and questions. Teachers can assign scores to these responses and, for verbal responses, check for plagiarism. Teachers can aggregate scores in order to calculate an assignment grade for each student. Teachers can display student responses to questions anonymously for instructional purposes.
Student information and responses are kept in the database to check for plagiarism year-over-year.
Teacher and student login times and dates are recorded.
Access to Information in the Database
Information collected and stored in the Website database is used solely by Abington Senior High School teachers and students for instruction and assessment. Teachers can access all student names, ID numbers, passwords, responses, and scores. For “live” assignments, students can access their own responses and scores. For administrative purposes, the Owner has access to all information stored in the Website database.
Teachers can share information gathered through their access to the Website in a manner consistent with their professional responsibilities and obligations. The Website Terms of Use prohibit other uses of teacher and student information.
